My New Job
Ah! How I have forgotten the delights of Childhood!
Last week I began my new position as an assistant teacher at a daycare/preshool. I arrive at 6 in the morning to observe parents dropping off their children, and stay until 12:30 attempting to keep over seventeen said 2 to 4 year-olds from killing each other. Which I have no doubt they would. Devilish little beasts. I have saved small children from having bookshelves pushed onto them by other small children.
So far, as recompense from this job today alone, I was spit on, hit, and now sport a bite mark on my wrist. My husband caught my sore throat, and I am in the coughing stage of said sickness.
There are blessings, of course. My shift ends a half hour into nap time, which means that I leave feeling as though I can’t wait to see the little sweet dears in the morning. Children are so precious when they sleep.
Influences on my own child rearing? Spank. Calvinism is proved in the nursery.
